PRINCETON, N.J. — Major League Table Tennis (MLTT), the first professional table tennis league in the United States, is thrilled to announce the addition of two new teams for Season 3, set to begin in September 2025. Team locations will be announced soon.
This eagerly-anticipated expansion will extend MLTT’s national footprint and introduce its electrifying format to an even broader audience. As the driving force behind the surge of table tennis in North America, MLTT is setting the stage for the sport’s next exciting chapter.
“This expansion to 10 teams is a decisive move for MLTT, underscoring our commitment to growing the sport and delivering a world-class experience for players and fans,” said MLTT Commissioner and CEO Flint Lane. “We have seen strong demand from potential team owners and the timing is right for expansion.”
Notable accomplishments in Season 2 include:
- Surge in fan engagement: Season 2 experienced an over 500% increase in fan viewership, reflecting dramatic growth in both live event attendance and online viewing.
- Minor League Table Tennis’ debut: The successful launch of Minor League Table Tennis is driving grassroots development, expanding the sport’s reach, and strengthening the talent pipeline.
- Data and analytics innovation: The introduction of the MLTT SPINDEX Rating System delivers advanced real-time analytics, enhancing competition and fan engagement.
- Talent elevates the game: The addition of 30 world-class players from around the globe in Season 2 raised the league’s competitive standard.
- New funding secured: An oversubscribed $5.5 million funding round in September, led by prominent business and sports executives, underscores MLTT’s momentum and provides valuable resources for ongoing growth.
