PRINCETON, NJ – June 13, 2024 – Major League Table Tennis (MLTT) today announced the appointment of Jordan Schlachter as the league’s first Chief Business Officer, effective immediately. Schlachter brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in sports marketing and commercial strategy, and will help position MLTT for continued growth and long-term success as it enters its second season in September 2024.
Schlachter will oversee all commercial and marketing activities, including partnership sales, brand strategy, licensing, media partnerships, ticketing, and fan engagement initiatives. He will also drive the MLTT’s business development efforts and seek to expand its presence in the U.S. and internationally.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jordan to the Major League Table Tennis family,” said MLTT CEO & Commissioner Flint Lane. “His extensive experience in sports marketing and deep understanding of the commercial landscape will be invaluable as we continue to build our brand and connect with fans around the world. Jordan’s vision and leadership will undoubtedly help us elevate MLTT to new heights.”
Schlachter joins MLTT with more than three decades of experience in the sports industry. Most recently, he served as the Chief Business Officer for the XFL, where he oversaw business partnerships, sponsorship revenue and relationships, licensing, merchandising distribution, and media partner business and sales. In his previous role as Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer, he managed nearly all revenue sources, marketing functions and communications for the XFL and its eight teams.
Schlachter came to the XFL after four years at the National Basketball Players Association where he held various leadership roles, including founder and President of THINK 450, the for-profit subsidiary of the NBPA, and the first-ever Chief Marketing Officer of the NBPA. During his tenure, he rebranded the union, and built the intellectual property base to monetize upon the formation of THINK 450.
Prior to the NBPA, Schlachter held senior executive positions with Viacom, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), the National Basketball Association (NBA) and others.
“I’m very pleased to be joining an organization with as much growth potential as MLTT,” said Schlachter. “After a successful first season, MLTT is poised to capitalize on the global popularity of Table Tennis – especially at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics Games – and continue to build a property poised for rapid expansion.”
MLTT has seen rapid growth and interest since its inception in spring of 2023 through the completion of its first season with its championship in Chicago in April of 2024. The first season saw over 1 million highlight streams on social platforms, led by YouTube, drew fans online from 121 countries, and included partnerships with Butterfly, Flywire, Paddle Palace and Manscaped. As the league gears up for its second season, Schlachter’s appointment signals a strong commitment to expanding the league’s footprint and enhancing the overall fan experience. His strategic insight and creative approach will be key assets in achieving these goals.
