Enzo Angles and Hong Lin Named MVPs of Major League Table Tennis Inaugural Season

PRINCETON, NJ (April 18, 2024) — Major League Table Tennis (MLTT) is excited to announce that Enzo Angles has been voted as the men’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Hong Lin as the women’s MVP for the inaugural 2023-24 season. Both players are members of the Carolina Gold Rush, the league’s number one team. The award is determined in a ballot by MLTT Head Coaches.

Angles, known for his exceptional skills and competitive spirit, was the league’s No. 1 overall draft pick last summer and has been a standout performer throughout the season, leading his team to victory with his remarkable talent and ferocity on the table. He currently leads the league with a power rating of 803.6, and has won more head-to-head Golden Game points (93) than any other player in the league. 

Lin is the league’s No.1 woman in Golden Games points percentage (4th overall) and has the best doubles record in MLTT. Her outstanding performances and remarkable consistency have made her a deserving recipient of the women’s MVP award, solidifying her status as one of the top players in the league. She’s currently fourth in the league power ratings with a score of 757.4.

On the men’s side Jishan Liang of the Princeton Revolution placed 2nd in voting. Tied for 3rd are Senura Silva of the Bay Area Blasters and Jiwei Xia of the Portland Paddlers. On the women’s side Amy Wang of the Texas Smash placed 2nd. Tied for 3rd are  Matilda Ekholm of the Florida Crocs and Rachel Sung of the Portland Paddlers. Along with the accolades, the top 3 in voting all receive cash prizes.

Angles and Lin, who also play together as Carolina’s first choice doubles team, will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the biggest stage as they compete in MLTT’s Championship Weekend, scheduled to take place on April 27-28, 2024, at Loyola University’s Gentile Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The Championship Weekend will feature the top players from across the league competing for the MLTT Cup and over $100,000 in prize money.
